  • I want my own arcade controls!
OK,

Thanks for helping out with this post!

I have a lead on a free Pole Position Driving Cab.
Hopefully I'll have it soon.  Just looking for any suggestions on things such as type/power of computer needed for running games/game suggestions/upgrade suggestions/steerling wheel/pedals?  Force Feedback??
Leads on purchasing upgrade parts needed?

Thanks again in advance!

yeah, i've a two player upright can on the go at the moment for my dreamcast and all ready im thinking about my second project, a driving cab. How great would it be doing the NFS drags, slammin through the gears, as you haul up the straight! The one question i have is do you have to use a bought steering wheel like a madcatz or something or can you, this is what i was thinking about, interface real arcade parts to the xbox, force feedback and all? the latter would be far supeior i reckon but if you cant you cant can you. Like the guy before me said, any ideas? suggestions where to go to find out?

cheers

You can definately interface real arcade driving controls to the PC no problem, so I'm sure it can be done for the Xbox. You probably just need to hack an Xbox controller. You will have to check what pots (variable resistors) are used in the Xbox controller though.... Most analogue arcade parts use 5K pots.

Do a search of the forum for "driving controls" and read up....

I'm almost finished my sitdown cab, it's PC based at the moment and I'll be linking it up to a PS2 before long so I can play GT3.

I'd recommend that you build it around a TV rather than a monitor as it will be easier to link to all the different consoles and a PC with a TV out card. I play NFS Underground on mine with a 24" TV and the quality is excellent. I bought an ex-display, marked TV for

As the other posts have said I would also use consoles they are cheaper than a good computer. Putting two used  console systems in the cab with a A/V switcher is chepaer than using a PC. Also mad catz makes a universal steering wheel for the three consoles.
