P1 & P2 are switched in Mame
« on: December 17, 2004, 02:56:39 pm »
Hey guys- everything is WIRED the right way, but Mame is now recognizing P2 as P1, and vice-versa. So, when I start a 2 player game, sometimes P2 is actually the P1 position, and vice versa.  Any ideas as to what is causing this?
Thanks
D

Try getting into MAME, hitting the TAB key, and setting the default controls.  Just pick the Player 1, Button 1, and try to program it using the actual button you want it to be on your control panel.  See what MAME thinks that button is set to.  That should tell you if you *really* have everything wired up right.  If you do, set all the default controls in like manner, verifying each one as you go.  That should help you hunt down the problem.   :police:

If you are using mame32 (maybe this works for regular mame as well), delete the file called default.cfg file if the problem cannot be solved as recommended by RacerX. Mame rebuilds that file to its default values if it does not exist automatically. I had to do that when I accidentally remapped the Tab key in Mame to None.

Always on the lookout for buying 90's game with Ramps that need work...
