Ready to order!!!
« on: December 15, 2004, 04:39:49 pm »
OK, this has been asked a trillion times but everyone seems to have different opinions...imagine that!!  lol

Anyway,  I am going to order a couple of joysticks...I want 4-way action and am ONLY going to play classics (Dig Dug, QBert, etc)

What should I buy?

I don't like clickyness but aren't leaf switches hard to find?

Where/who should I get them from?

Thanks!

all the Wico leaf sticks ive got were used.  Dont know if you can get em NOS anywhere.

Try ebay .

If you decide to use clicky sticks, i like the T-Stick plus.  Its a short throw but switchable from 4 to 8 way very easily.

several people have bought nos wicos from nicade on ebay but i don't know if he has 4 ways.

if you end up going with microswitches, i'd go with the ms pac man reunion stick.

He does, I bought one from him a couple days ago.

edit: oh and to answer your question, a Wico four way leaf is almost certainly what you'll want for this application IMO.

I have 2 wico 4way leafs (got new from www.videoconnect.com years ago when they where cheap (14 bucks each).  They are now $29.

But I still think that the mspacman revo joysticks are better.  I like the smaller throw myself.  And they are cheaper (for new)... but requires a mounting plate.  www.therealbobroberts.com has them for 20 bucks + 10 bucks for the mounting plate... (btw, get the normal mounting plate... its flat... don't understand the pacman one)
