Edmonton Auctions
« on: December 14, 2004, 02:46:05 pm »
Has anyone on this board ever been to an auction in Edmonton, Alberta, Canad?

It seems they never have any here.  I may have to start patrolling the tunnels of west edmonton mall (I have access >:) ) ...see if maybe I can find  a discarded and gutted cab, since NO ONE here seems to sell for reasonable prices. I mean this one guy wanted to sell me a gutted SF2 cab (no monitor no console, just the cabinet) for $400 dollars. and it was OLD.  I was thinking "no."

This is a great hobby but it's really frustrating sometimes.

The only game auction I've seen in Edmonton in the last 2 years was when that place in West-Ed closed.  And everything went for way too much money.  If you just want a cabinet to turn into a MAME machine, keep an eye on the bargain finder and be patient.  Every few months you'll see fully working video games for $200ish.  I just build my own cab, its cleaner and more customizable.

http://buysell.com/results.asp?whatdo=classid&id=1078&SUBMIT1=GO%21&r=25&i=485 is your friend.. (sometimes..:-) but keep an eye out in there...

or call some of the bigger ads in that catagory..the ones that say "we pay top dollar" and ask if they have a cheap dead cab they want to get rid of..

call CIRCUIT CIRCUS AMUSEMENT CENTRE
8770 170 Avenue Northwest 1588, Edmonton, AB T5Z2Y7
(780) 444-7887 see if they have dead cabs, or who their supplier is..
call the supplier and see if they have dead cabs..

try some of these numbers..not all are close by, (but everyone loves a road trip:-)

I picked up a gutted Wrestlefest cabinet from a used game store over by Nait on 118ave,  I'm always on the lookout for a beatup cocktail cabinet myself.... :)

I am buying cabs for $50 ea...the guy does not even know if they work for sure or not.  I bought a complete Arkanoid cab and a wood grain cab for $100.  I live in Grande Prairie and he has dozens more if you are ever in the area.  Email me if you are interested in more info.
