Bartop Plans
« on: December 13, 2004, 02:24:22 pm »
Does anyone know where I could find plans for a bartop machine?  I've been scouring the net for quite a while and all i see are upright, mini-upright, and cocktail plans.  This is actually going to be a JAMMA cabinet.  Anyone have any ideas?

http://www.skum.org/bartop has plans for his Happy Hour cab

Also, check out this thread for some other examples:

These guys don't sell plans, but do sell the empty boxes they use for their bartops ($200 for an empty MDF box though...):

If I were going to build one I'd buy an appropriatly sized monitor and just design the thing around it.

I've got plans drawn up for a scaled down galaga/mspac style cab which I scaled from full size drawings from jakobud.com which are designed to house a 10" SVGA monitor.

These bartops which are approx 22" tall, 18" deep and 13" wide....cutoff just below control panel to look like a mini galaga cab.

These are just ink on paper at the moment, actually, ink and pencil on foam artboard that I am using as stencil to cut side pieces and note placement of top/back/bottom and control panel supports.

I was planning to create more detailed set of plans with pics once I get through my projects.

Well, thats why I'd want plans... so i can accomodate a 13" or a 19" monitor... but i do want it to be JAMMA rigged... this isn't going to be a MAME box

You took his statement the wrong way.  What Stingray is suggesting [and I'm seconding] is that you find a monitor you want to use and base your cab on THAT monitor.  That's what I did with my bartop.  I had a monitor I wanted to use, and sketched up a design based on that monitor.  It's not difficult at all.  To be fair, my cab is a bit simple and bland looking... there are MUCH better looking bartops out there, but it gets the job done.

Get yourself a monitor, and you can whip something up really quick.
first off your and idiot

Man I love the internet, haha.

19" will make a pretty big bartop. If modern monitors require isolation transformers, you can figure it will be 24" deep, more or less, and a good 3' tall, by the time you get everything in it.

Well, thats the smallest I can find... I'd REALLY like to find a 13"... but haven't found anything yet.

I just got a couple of 9" VGA gray scale monitors.

Anybody wanna build a bartop b/w classics game?

I only want to keep one around for a test monitor.

I'll give the monitor to anyone that wants it for the shipping from 37421.

(And thats shipping only, none of that handling crap)

13",14", and 15" are easy to find....especially if you don't need something new....what area are you located in?

S'alright... I'll figure something out.  I know it's not going to be technically a bartop, but i dont really want a mini-cab or a full size thing either... so ill probably just modify some plans, I guess
