Doubling up inputs on an Optipac?
« on: December 13, 2004, 01:27:48 pm »
Does anyone have any experience/comments on attaching 2 optical devices to 1 input on an optipac?

I'd like to hook up two single axis inputs to just one input (eg X axis P1 rotary) on the optipac. The controls would never be used simultaneously, but I was wondering if there would be a grounding issue. Would I connect the grounds on each device to the ground on the optipac?

Or should I just make a USB mouse hack for the extra device - I have other usb devices and am worried about devices swithing id's on rebooting.

any comments welcome.

Devices shouldn't switch id's unless they use the same driver - i.e. two Oscar mouse hacks - bad, Kensington mouse hack and Inland mouse hack - okay.

Ah thats good to know thanks. I should be able to fall back on a mouse hack then, although I quite like the neatness of just using the optipac.

Thanks for replying.
