Where do you see free shipping? "Super Saver" shipping charges $4.50, or are you local so you can just go pick it up?

I mistakenly assumed the free shipping banner on the top left was specifiying that product qualified, me sorry.

Ah, the good 'ol days of me playing Atari 400.  I need to dig that thing out of the attic.  Heck, I have Pacman and DK and other carts.  Maybe I should make a cab with it? LOL

Hey, I've got a couple 2600s, a 7800, a Jaguar & a Lynx all within a few feet of my MAME cab. If you've got an old Atari system, drag it out of the mothballs. They're still amazingly fun.

Yeah, play doesn't get worse, just because the graphics stink.

Nobody ever complains about the lack of advancement of card decks... I can't figure out why people insist on better graphics all the time.

BUT, have you ever played Adventure, Yar's Revenge, Space Shuttle, Pitfall 2, Superman and Combat, that I can think of right off hand.

I wonder if they used the same "wonder ring" in these that the originals had.
You know, the that breaks, and makes you WONDER what they were thinking in the design stage?
Hopefully they at least upgraded the plastic it's made out of, so the thing doesn't break after a few months.

That's what I was afraid of.
And, from the sounds of it, they are even LESS durable than the originals.

I have a few originals laying around, in addition to a few other controllers, that I can hack into my I-pac if I get the hankering for an original joystick.

NOTE: Colecovision controllers have the same pinout as the Atari ones for the directions and fire button, but have a much more durable stick.
The stick has a little more travel than the Atari ones, but is more comfortable to use for long playing sessions.

Also, the Wico Command Control sticks are arcade quality leafswitch sticks.
(I don't care for the feel of the Wicos because the sticks are too tall/funny shaped for a controller you have to hold in your hand though.)

I remember my favorite 2600 game as being Indy 500 with the driving paddles.  Great fun, especially tag and the Ice tracks!  Dug it out a while back and it was still great fun.
Please!  Give me the good news first!

Hey! Pac Man and Donkey Kong are great on the 400. Donkey Kong for the 400/800 was the first home port I saw that had all 4 levels. 2600 had 2, and Colecovision had 3 (no Pie Factory). Defender was also great on the Atari computers and worthless on the 2600.

I think 2600 Pac Man and Donkey Kong are about the two worst conversions ever made for consoles. Can't totally blame the hardware, because Ms. Pac Man came out pretty good considering what they had to work with.

Adventure, and Space Shuttle by Activision, are absolute marvels--given the limitations of the hardware they were working with.

I've ordered two of these joysticks previously... and they suck big donkey ballz.

Besides having the button mapping be weird (it has ONE button and it's recognized as BUTTON 2 -- which is pretty useless, and no software config to change it)

They are junk.  I was very dissapointed.  One of them one direction didn't work out of the box, and the other one quickly got jammed up (at some point I've got to take it apart and see why certain microswitches aren't clicking....

*shrug*

YMMV

Good thing I read to the bottom of this thread...  Thanks for the warning Rampy, I was just about to order a couple!
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

I've got a couple of them too. One fell apart after my wife played BurgerTime with it for about 10 minutes. They're pretty, but they feel bad and like to fall apart.

It's too bad the quality stinks, I'd love a pair of these if they worked.
Which parts fail on them; has anybody tried swapping the parts that failed with some from an original 2600 stick?  They look pretty similar inside, but without one to check out, I can't tell if they match up.  Mabye it's possible to transport the USB PCB into an Atari shell, or replace just the part that fails from an original.

*chuckles*
Looking at the pics, it looks like they were basing it more off of Gemini's Gemsticks than the original 2600 sticks(of course, Gemsticks were almost identical to the 2600 sticks aside from the new actuator and fire button).

Oversized, convex fire button is the big giveaway.
Though the stick shaft looks like the Gemini design too, which seems to hold up a little better than Atari's original design, given the shape of the sticks in my collection. Though that doesn't say much given precisely how bad the design is on the Atari sticks.
