Connect a dreamcast through a j-pac?
« on: December 08, 2004, 11:39:30 pm »
I want to connect a dreamcast to my mame cab.  If I modify the VGA adapter on the dreamcast to send 15 khz, could i then just plug it into my j-pac and turn on the PC but have the DC picture show up on the monitor?  Seems simpler then trying to use other methods to connect the system to my arcade monitor.

Currently to...

but its not hard to do..

There is a dreamcast VGA adapter that is in a gray tinted (smoky) clear box.  I'm at work so I can't give you the real name.  But you clip one pin and it outputs in 15hz.  Then its just hacking a 15 pin vga cable... This took about 20 minutes to do everything for me.  I also hooded this above the jamma connector But that was just me... and probably should have been done in a jamma card (which I didn't have)

Next..

You hack some controllers... This is much harder..  Soldering and scraping..

I wish someone had a dreamcast -> keyboard connector that worked with all encoders (I don't want to buy a XArcade controller + 20 for the dreamcast connector... Seems too expensive since I"m not planning on throwing a computer in my dreamcast cab..
