Taiko no Tatsujin (Drum Master)
« on: December 08, 2004, 06:41:38 pm »
I recently got a hold of Taiko no Tatsujin 5 but I don't have the Drum Controller. Has anyone played this (on PS2)? I'm wondering if it's worth asking my wife to get me the drum for Christmas ???
The GameSpot review says the original game was OK. Are the sequels any different?

On a related topic, was there ever a sequel to Samba De Amigo on Dreamcast? I got the original, is that the only game I can play with the maracas?

There was a sequal released only in Japan called "Samba De Amigo ver 2000".  They added a new rotating motion that is very difficult to do with the maracas not registering the entire circle.  There is also a fun Volleyball mini-game.  All the menus are in Japanese so its difficult to setup some of the mini-games.  There are also a lot of new songs.  I'm pretty sure gamespot and ign have reviews if you want more details.  Its definately worth it IMHO,

Taiko Drum Master was just recently released in the USA. I picked it up and I gotta say it's pretty damn fun. Big hit with the ladies, kids, and fans of rhythm games.

Red Octane puts out their version of the Taiko drum here http://www.redoctane.com/taikodrum.html

I've seen it in Game Stop. You can go that way or for 20 dollars more you can just pick up Taiko Drum Master that includes the official controller.

Did you buy your game off of Ebay? I want to see what the import versions are like.

I have the japanese Taiko 4 with drum, id say its pretty awesome game. Theres no comparison between hitting the actual drum with drumsticks and just pressing buttons, definately get the drum its only like 20-30$ for the official one i believe.

also , you should play PopN Music!! itll be the last rythm game you ever buy cause youll be so addicted =P
