War Final Assault arcade game problem.
« on: December 07, 2004, 11:05:45 pm »
My friend has a War Final Assault and I got a chance to play it the other day and was REALLY impressed...it was very fun for about 10 minutes.  The problem is after several minutes or so the game will just sort of reset and then it will just continually reboot.  As a former computer technician I would think it's either overheating or has a power supply problem.  He thought it was the hard drive and bought a new imaged hard drive for like 80 something dollars online but that didn't fix it.  I think we're gonna try swapping the power supply out and start there as well as check for any thing that appears to be too hot during the game.  I was just wondering if anyone's had any experience with this game that could maybe give me more insight or confirm what the problem might be.  Thanks.

First thing I'd try is running the cab with the covers off, and a house-type fan blowing directly on the hardware.

That should give you an idea if it IS a heat problem before you replace anything.

I'll second that notion.   I was playing a series of games,  and my relatively new Dell started to reboot.  Whoops!  I opened the side of the case and had a fan(not just cpu but a 4")  blowing directly over the mobo.   No reboots.

Also, the machine never reboots when I'm not playing mame and not running the fan.  I guess the fan will be a requirement in my cab??
