mouse hack worked! but questions
« on: December 04, 2004, 11:02:16 pm »
I was waiting for the computer to buy a few $3 mice.  While at walmart, I notice they had a ps2 keyboard and scroll mouse package with a wrist wrest for $9.99.  I couldn't resist.  I did a quick mouse hack.  Hooked it up to a happ TB I bought in a lot, and it worked!  I was very happy, since this was my first try.  But I have some questions.  All hack info I have seen say 5v to the TB.  The incoming voltage in the mouse was 7.6v.  I hooked it up anyway, since it was so much quicker than going to the PS.   Nice small pcb too, only 1 1/2 x 2".

1.  Will the extra voltage damage this, (orig atari op board) or any other optic board???  (I guess I should have asked this first...lol)

2.  Is the 7.6v standard?  (Old BH6 MB)

3.  Should I add a resistor?

I also just have to throw in that I am new here, and LOVE this board.  I want to thank everyone here.  I am learning more here all the time.  And some of the threads are just damn funny.  Couldn't stop laughing at "wife 1.0" and "guess what I am gonna build? (without any hints)"  Also Laughed at "can tell me you, if can convert me playstation?"

Thanks Everyone!

Steve
