Mounting 2.25" TB w/o Mounting Plate

ok- have search every thread on here- can't seem to find specifics on how to mount a 2 1/4" Ultimarc TB WITHOUT a mounting plate. I am using 1/2" MDF, with Graphic and Acrylic overlay- obviously I dont want any mounting bolts showing. Is there a way to do this, or, do I just need to spend another $40 on mounting plates?
