I was able to get the files using a client called Azureus.

Tell your torrent client to limit the amount of connections to the seed to a reasonable number.  This is quite easy to achieve in modern clients like Azureus.  Also ensure your firewall has the correct holes in it for bittorrent peer seeding (typically tcp ports 6881 to 6889 need to be opened and forwarded to your machine if you sit behind a router), otherwise your download rate will be quite slow.

I use Azureus as well, it is an excellent client.
