Ordering from Bob Roberts
« on: December 02, 2004, 06:24:27 pm »
Was going to order a translucent blue TB from Bob to replace the ball from the happ golden tee tb I ordered from Peale.  Question is are all 3" balls the same...all I see is Atari ones...I'm guessing there the same...just wanna be sure, will pick up the mounting plate there too

Well it wouldn't be 3" now would it.  :P

But, don't take my word as I'm a newbie.

I had a similar question,  ordering from there looks like you really need to know what your ordering as everything is piece meal.  For example, how would I order a fully functional 3" trackball that 's ready for hook up with an Optipac, similar to Happs? (ie. casing, gears, shafts, etc...)

I know this is kinda OT, but can you use a cueball or pool ball for any trackball?

Pool balls are 2 1/4"
they make trackballs like that.  I plan to put an 8 ball in mine when i finish it

Question is are all 3" balls the same...

No, but not by what you mean.

All 3" TB balls will work in all 3" TBs.

The differences are in weight, color, translucency, and shine.  (Not counting wear changing the feel.)

The atari and happs are the same; happs TBs are the current make of the old atari TBs.  IIRC, the happs balls are a very little heavier than the betson/wico.  In general, solids are heavier than translucents.

Besides that, yes they are the same

I've been telling my wife 3 inches is 6 inches for YEARS.  ;)

I got a 3" Translucent Blue ball off ebay and it worked in my Imperial.

not sure how the pool ball would roll in there, your average trackballs is made of plastic,  where as a pool ball seems to be made of...well some non plastic material. let us know how it works, would definately be intersting to see.
