PS 2 to USB convertors
« on: December 01, 2004, 09:08:43 pm »
Hi folks.
Ive been reading through loadsa great stuff here on BYOAC for a while and finally got started doing a cabinet.

I'm using a TV instead of a monitor (UK PAL)
Got all the bits for the PC, and stuff to make the cabinet itself, then decided to get a PS2 - USB adapter so that I can use my PS2 controllers for  the 4 player games. I've got  a PS2 steering wheel lying around somewhere too.

I bought the EMS USB 2:

http://www.hkems.com/product/ps2/ps2-usb2.htm

I noticed its got a connection for a TV on it so you can upgrade a gun con gun to gun con 2. I decided to see if the light gun would work on the PC via the adaptor.
After checking the description in the game controller list I was pretty sure it wasn't going to but thought I would have a look anyhow

Don't get all excited though. It didn't work properly, although it did seem to be picking up  some of the signals.
I tested it out on Operation Wolf and edited the controls so that the trigger was the fire button. I could also set the button on the side of the gun to be the secondary fire. I left the cross hair on so I could see what was happening and could see it skipping about. It did however seem to follow the gun movements slightly. It looked a bit like when the gun needs calibrating on the PS2. The screen was flashing too.

I was wondering if there was a way to calibrate a light gun from within Mame so I can see if I am able to get it usable.

I have searched the forums and was unable to find anyone else eho had any success with PS2 light guns with a TV or if anyone had tried anything with the EMS USB2 adaptor.
I'll put summat here later

EMS Dual Shooter (USB2) - PS2 to PC adapter
« Reply #1 on: October 03, 2009, 04:48:36 pm »
The above message was from 2004 - did nobody else try the EMS Dual Shooter/USB2 ?

I'm aware the Aimtrak has just been released, but am also exploring trying out my Guncon2 lightguns.

What has me interested in the drivers work on 64-bit (x64) Windows XP - whereas the other drivers written by hackers are only 32-bit.
