Happ 8-way Trigger stick owners please read.

If any of you guys own one of these sticks than I know your having zig-zaging problems on the Tron light cycle stage. The actuator that comes with the stick is too big. Go to Home Depot and get yourself a couple of feet of  1 1/8"
square ballaster. Ballaster is just square strips of pine that come in a variety of sizes. Cut off a 5/8" thick piece and drill a 5/16" hole through the middle. Start with a smaller bit first and work your way up. The piece you cut should now be almost the same size as the plastic actuator. Now its time to start sanding all 4 sides down until it measures an even 15/16"x 15/16" square. Take your time and keep checking the measurments as it has to be perfectly square. Now slide it on the shaft and put your e-clip back on and try it out on Tron. You should see a great reduction with the zig-zagging of the light cycle. If it still zigzags then remove it and sand a little bit more and keep trying it untill your happy with the results. The object is to make it small enough to eliminate most of the zigzagging but not too small so that it compromises control in other games. Don't bother trying to use the square actuator off your Happ comp or ultimate stick. It is too small and the hole in it is too big. After you settle on the size that you want your homade actuator to be I would suggest that you duplicate the wooden prototype onto some sort of plastic since the wooden piece would probably eventually crack from rough use of the joystick. Im using a backgammon chip (the thick plastic type, not a cheap checker board chip.) Its wasn't quite thick enough so I just slid a washer on to take up the slack and  the e-clip fit nice and snug. I hope everybody is as happy with the results as I was.  ;D

Why can't you just sand down the actuator that comes with the stick?

I wish I could but the original plastic actuator is hollow. :( I toyed around with the idea of filling it in with maybe a hot glue gun or even melting plastic to fill it in and then try to sand it but the heat would probably distort the actuator.  I suppose I could try doing this since I don't really need the original anymore anyway. If it works I'll post the results.
