Is there a reason people don't use this as a smart stripless solution to powering there game cabs?

Sounds great.  Too bad most modern ATX power supplies don't have the outlet for this cable.

If all you have to power is a monitor, that would be one approach assuming you have a power supply with an auxilary power connector.

Couple of  reasons why most end up using a strip or some other method of multiple outlets....

a. most  ATX power supplies with auxilary power connectors are "always hot" meaning, they are always on even when power to the motherboard  is not

b. there are often situations where you need to power something more than just the pc and monitor, ie: marquee light, speakers, etc

The cab I have had no power cord so I chopped the socket end off of a heavy duty 15' extension cord.  I wired the neutral and ground directly to an outlet inside the cab.  I wired the hot wire to a rocker switch and then to the outlet.  This gave me a switchable outlet inside the cab.  I still use a power strip plugged into the outlet for computer, monitor, speakers to plug into.
