Layout help plz
« on: November 22, 2004, 08:45:50 pm »
I'm in the process of designing my new panel and need a little help....here is how I would like to set it up......tell me of any problems you will foresee...I'm trying to minimize clutter as much as possible.... It will be a 2 player layout in a neo geo config w/ 7 buttons per player.  I'd like to have the buttons in the more ergonomical config as most people are doing nowadays.  I would like to install a Golden Tee TB in the uper middle with extra room for those mad drives and spinner towards the bottom of the TB.  The joys I would like to use would be GGG Prodigy's with the above console 4/8 way switch and would like to flush mount everything.  Has anyone done this with the prodigy's and their lever for switching ?  I plan on mounting the coin buttons on the bottom of the panel out of sight.  Can the GT TB be configured to work with buttons 1 2 3 for mouse buttons ?  I will hook this all up with the IPAC2 or 4 and a optipac.  Now the big question...can someone throw something together to give me a idea on how this would look and some possible snags.  Just want to get a visual on it....the interactive designer just isn't working for me....

Edit :  I think I may go with the T-Stick plus

TIA

Tim

My advice: Forget the interactive designer...make a to-scale mockup using carboard cutouts and place it at approximately the height your real control panel will be.  Things can look great on the computer screen, but you'll never know if it's COMFORTABLE until you actually reach your hands out and see.

if you plan on playing the golf games i recommend not having anything (ie the spinner) in line with the trackball.  and you mentioned placing the tb in the "upper" middle.  make sure you're not to close to the screen.  a couple of my friends manage to hit the screen on actual machine and i'd hate to see what would happen if the tb was closer to the screen.  of course, if your friends don't take the running start like mine do, this may not be an issue.

I plan on haveing at least 8 inches between the TB and screen and I"m playing with the idea of offcentering the spinner slightly to not be directly in line with the tb
