New Smilies are UGLY
« on: November 22, 2004, 12:37:02 pm »
Saint,
I'm starting to see new buttons showing up and it looks good. Keep it up....

But the smilies... Who modified that? Looks like someone just took the old ones, and used a PhotoShop BLUR effect on it. The end results are.... well what would you expect--BLURRY!

Give us the old ones back, or have someone create REAL new ones, not just a half-assed blur filter. There's nothing wrong with "pixel" artwork. No need to smooth them. On the other hand, if you insist on wanting "smoothed" (anti-aliased) smilies, let me do it. I used to do pixel style art for video games and I was an expert at anti-aliasing by hand (as well as an expert at making stuff look three dimensional, but still drawn by hand in pixels).

~Ray B.  :(

This is the default set included with the new software. I agree, I liked the old set better. I'll see if I can include them as an option to the user profile for selection.

What you can do is rape them from the old set, rename them to whatever the new ones are, and place the old ones in their place.

Way ahead of you Peale ;) The classic set is back and ready. You can change this in the forum profile:

Modify Profile -> Look and Layout Preferences -> Current Smiley Set -> classic

Will enable the old icons

Cool!  Now if you can fix it so I can see attachments (seems like it's just me, I just tried another account, and could see them) I'll  be quite happy.

Great........

My offer to draw a set still stands. Maybe they could be space invader smilies.

Wow, board permissions are picky. I've reset all relationships to view and all members to post. It wasn't picking up the moderator permissions, so it should be good.

By all means! I'll make them an available set to all Forum members if you do them up. If you want the text equivalent for reference the forum has configured, let me know via PM.

Hey, if I've got some from another board, could they be implemented here as well?

Is this a collection available for download, or are they part of another forum? If they are part of an available download, then sure. If they are "ripped" from another forum, I would require the acceptance of that forum administrator(s) prior to consideration.

Gotcha on the rip, and I'll check the terms of use for some other ones I was pointed to.
