No... This adaptor lets you plug your IPAC into your XBOX!

it lets you use your Ipac contols for your xbox machine instead of hacking an xbox controller.

Given that most modern games make at least some usage of the analog sticks, how is this going to work?  Just making it go hard in each direction isn't going to work for a LOT of games.  Hell, even things like platformers have sections where lightly pressing the stick is integral to passing a gamepoint.

I presume it is primarily aimed at arcade game conversions eg fighters.

I presume it is primarily aimed at arcade game conversions eg fighters.  Even if it could be used with analog sticks hardly anyone has them on their control panel!

Now, maybe this is just my opinion here, but why would anyone put arcade conversions on their mame machine?  The mame machine is designed so you can play the originals.

With a mod x-box, you can put mame on it.  So with it, you can play both x-box games and mame.  Another good point is that it outputs to the TV easily and looks pretty good.

This is great for those who doesnt want to mess with a arcade monitor and has a x-box & spare  TV lying around.

Great work Andy! ;D

Cool!

So, does it require a IPac or will any ps2 keyboard encoders / keyboards work?  I know you can't offically guarantee it, it would be nice to know if it SHOULD work.

any chance of a dreamcast version??

Yeah.  The Xbox is $150.  Plop in a $50 mod chip and you've got a decent MAME PC that will also play quite a few arcade ports, as well as Xbox exclusive fighters and such.  Things like Soul Caliber II probably wouldn't be emulated for another 3 or 4 years at least, but can already be played on Xbox.

Trust me.  This is a very good thing.  And I have to agree on the analog thing.  While I think that this thing would be MUCH better if it did support analog sticks and all the buttons (though the triggers would probably have to be buttons that activated a hard trigger press), it wouldn't help many people out.  As Minwah mentioned, very few people have analog sticks on their control panels.  I must admit, though, that if this thing had support for analog sticks I would probably remedy the lack of analog sticks on my control panels pretty quickly.

As is, though, it's a VERY good thing.  Thanks Andy.

Maybe not the best example, but you can play Blitz of SF Rush on a Dreamcast or Nintendo64, or (if they have versions of it), on an XBOX.

Mame supports them, but I can't play them on my XP2800.  I might not be able to play them on the 10Ghz computer that I won't shell out the money for in five years.

My only concern is no map for the triggers. I would like to build an Xbox cab with MK: Deception and MvC2 in it, but without the triggers it's hard do it. I don;t think you can remap the buttons in MvC2 to the scheme set by the Xbox adapter.

If it is possible to remap, then I'm interested!

Yeah, a DC one would be ideal for me, but realistically it's probably not going to happen as the market is too small.

However, I suppose you could use the playstation version with adapters.

Hmm, exciting times....

The best scenario of all though would be if Andy produced an Ipac that could output to PC, X-Box and Playstation without the need for a separate converters.

Andy, slightly off topic, but when is the 36 input Minipac going to appear?
