Half-Life 2!

This is an outstanding game.  I have a new fave FPS.  Great graphics, the story is top notch, acting is a little silly sometimes, but over all its excellent.

What an interesting game.  I would say it's part MYST, part Half-Life part RPS.  I mean, the graphics are amazing, and I just have a 9700 Pro with everything on High and no water reflection. And the game looks awesome.  Huge scenery with lots of interaction with the enviorment.

MYST like, because you have to figure out your way around a huge city.  Especially with the Gravity gun.  As the Gravity Gun allows you to pick up anything and throw it at a foe.  Last night I was throwing paint cans at monster and the paint would explode on them and cover them with paint.  Or finding saw blades and cuting people in half.

I found the game very liner and finding way around was a bight tough, but you can find the water.

Nice added feature is that your now able to ride things. Just finished the long boat map.  And one thing I can say is, don't lose you boat.

The game flows from area to area with loads as you move from within that area. Sort of a pain, as your in the middle of an area, then a loading message comes up that takes 1-2 mins to load up the next section.

Just met DOG and I can't wait to start battling with him.

Online:  Having briefly playing Counter Strike on the old Half-Life.  Its going to take me awhile to catch-up to the experience people.  But I experiences no lag and the maps (DUST) looked great.

I'll post more the further I game into the game....

Hey Floyd, the LEAST you could do is point him to this thread http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=6;action=display;threadid=27614;start=0#msg229675  in order to not have two, five, or a hundred different posts on the same subject!

That's my for today!

I just finished the single player and it is a lot of fun.  I must say that I enjoyed the first half of the game more than the second.  The levels in the first half seemed more original than the ones in the second.  Also the ending is kind of anticlimatic.  I am also kind of disappointed with CS source.  It is really just the same as plain old CS -- they barely take advantage of the source engine.  I would have liked to see the incredible physics at work in CS as well as hl2.

I also beat it. I liked the begining and the end. The middle was good just it didn't seem as fun in comparison to the rest of this amazing game.

They toned down some of the physucs in CS:Source to prevent lag. Maybe someday they will reincorporate them.

Floyd, just a tip, you could increase your post count WAAAYYYYYY higher if you broke your sentence into individual letters and send each letter as a post. If you posted "H" in one post, and an "I" in another, then you could get TWO posts in, making your presense here that much more valuable. Did you score some good oregano today?

Yes,actually..:) But not until the end of the game...

I thought the ending was perfect.  It left just enough questions to make everyone look forward to Half Life 3.

Oh, and a tip for people playing through, every time you see the original half-life symbol there's some sort of "easter egg" there with information about what is going on, or a Gman sighting (Or so I am told).

Absolutely amazing game...Must buy for anyone that likes FPS games.  That, and it was nice to play through a game without major bugs.

I think this is only valid if your playing the game on easy level

I played through on easy, but my friend played through on hard and said he still saw lots of them.

I can't vouch one way or the other, but it would seem really odd that they would hide easter eggs that only reveal plot items on harder difficulty levels...

Just one question -  how long did it take someone to play this game through. If it's less than a week then I don't care how good the graphics are - that game is too easy. As usual more time spent on the graphics than the gameplay.

It took me weeks to finish leisure suit larry!

Anyone master the old commodore 64 games in a couple of days!

In my day we had proper games - like 3d monster maze on the zx81.

I just get ammo packs, health and batteries in the lambda-marked areas, but I'm playing it on easy. I still am finding it pretty hard at times.

I have been struggling with the game's "stuttering" issues. It's distracting.

To each his own.  I understand that technically the longer the game, the better the value and so on.  But I don't want my games to last 40 hours.  I have a very limited amount of time to spend playing video games and as it is there are too many great games that I desperately want to play but can't.  I'm still playing through the first Splinter Cell and #3 is just around the corner.  I've never even seen Viewtiful Joe in action.  I haven't played a RTS on the PC in years in spite of some apparent masterpieces like Rome: Total War.

Anyway, when I start a game I like to finish it.  I feel ripped off if I only get 8 or 10 hours out of a game (if I payed $50 for it), but anything over than that is perfectly fine with me if the quality is there.

I mean, imagine if all movies were 10 or 12 hours long.  Even if they were great from beginning to end, there is a downside to it.
