Are you kidding???

You know how much you can make for shipping a trashcan???

Youll be sitting pretty even if you only get 9.99 for the can... 10 bucks + 75 for shipping...

eBay?  ;)

Wouldn't want to bother with the hassle of shipping a trash can.

But now you're saddled with a trash can you don't use.  It's taking up valuable real estate space, which could be used for your games.  Toss it up, see what it gets.  You get big bucks, spend it on the ArcadeVGA.  You don't, you get the space on your floor back.  Either way, it's win-win.

Unless having a useless trashcan around the house is something you crave, of course...

Stop being all logical and stuff.  It makes my head hurt.   :P

I may just give it away, the only big names on them aren't household names like the WWE guys are.  The biggest are Low Ki and Ron Killings, IIRC.

OH DUDE!  Low Ki is the one I was LOOKING FOR!  And to think, you got it on the PERFECT augograph holder - a trash can!  How much do yo......wait a minute, I don't watch or care about wrestling  ;) ;D

Did you see if you could trade the winner of the Sox tickets?  Mebbe it was some kid who would have preferred the trash can!

Heh, that's not a bad idea but I did not.  I wanted to actually watch the show.  I did offer it back to the promoter so he could auction it off for the fund, but he said they just didn't have space in the show format to do it.

That's a crackup.  A girl friend of mine just moved to Louisville, KY so that she could get into the beginner class at Ohio Valley Wrestling, which is the developmental company for the WWE.  She has met quite a few of what I would classify as the lower end wrestlers, and even one or two of the big guys like John "Bradshaw" Layfield who does, of all things, financial analysis on CNBC on his off days.

It's not for me, but it's something she really wanted to do, and I admire her for picking up and moving there to go after her dreams.

Okay, now I've really gotten off topic...   :P

Wow this contest is amazing
such GREAT prizes and great odds.
Not to say that this website isn't good, but with maybe a max of 500 entries because it's such a niche hobby, and if Saint sees to no duplicates, everyone has a very fair chance of winning. It reminds me of some kind of small carnival-raffle and that's so cool.

The coolest (and only) thing I ever won, I won at Chuck E. Cheese when I was about 12.  They used to do "Teen Night" once in a while, it was like $10.00 to get in, with free games, pizza, and soda for a few hours.  The first time I ever went, they had a raffle.  We all put our names in the box and forgot about it.  A couple hours later, we were camped out on the Frogger cocktail, with a giant pile of paper plates, napkins, soda cups, and pizza crusts covering everyplace but the screen, when this dude wandered by.  My buddy said "Dude, that guy was calling your name!".  I was sure my mother had them paging me because she was gonna pick me up early or some crap like that, I had totally forgotten the raffle.  I chased dude down, and he told me I won.  I asked him which prize, figuring on a stuffed Chuck E. Rat doll or something.  But instead, it was the Donkey Kong Jr. cocktail sitting right next to the Frogger I was on!

And that's the story of how I got my frist cab.  Nope, I don't still have it- wish I did, though.

OMG that must have been the coolest freaking prize ever. If I was 12 and won an arcade machine without even realizing you won a big contest I would have been blown away. How was it? Was it a used one since they were giving it away... Did you play it a lot?

Hmmm, probably the best thing I ever won was off a Radio contest when I was about 16.  When they played these 'touch tones' on what was then Q107 you had to be the 7th caller.  This was when Bush was running against like Dukakis so in addition to the normal prize of $107 cash I won the election day survival kit which was a case (24-48) sodas and a couple of pizzas from Jerrys.  Needless to say I was pretty excited.

Then in college I went to a comedy club and won a pair of tickets to Adams Family 2 the nite before it opened...that was pretty cool.

I never win anything good (seriously, not just saying that), but for the hell of it I'll enter anyway.

Well, the coolest thing I won was when Taco Bell and Microsoft had the XBOX contest.
Half of the people you meet are below average.

I was pretty pumped, I can tell you.  Didn't sleep at all that night, waiting for it to be delivered the next day.  Sure, it was used, but who cares?  And yes, or course I played it a lot.  My friends and I all got where we could get to like the 8th Mario's Hideout or something like that, and eventually got tired of it.  Then it sat in my room for years.  I finally sold it after the monitor lost it's red and blue signal, back then I didn't know anything about fixing arcade machines.  Now I wish I had one again...

Yeah I suppose it really is impractical to buy a single arcade game unless you truly love it for collector's reasons

I buy the ones that I not only loved when I was younger but ones that are not easily emulated in MAME for some reason.  For example, I have a Pole Position II which is emulated in MAME but it feels much more realistic with the real controls from Pole Position II and I have a Tekken 2 which I don't think works quite right in MAME yet, and the Tekken series was one of me and my friend's favorites.  I also have a Time Soldiers which has those rotary joysticks so that it would be hard to play in MAME.

Ya I think we're gonna have to wait a few (10 or more even) years before all or some of the newer games are emulated perfectly.

However, waiting 10 years for a Tekken 4 emulation isn't viable since a PS2 port is arcade perfect EXCEPT for the fact where it's made for a PS2 and not an arcade...so I'm debating whether or not making my arcade cab PS2 and mame but maybe I'll just settle with an arcade joystick

Low Ki is a ---tallywhacker--- in real life.  Ron Killings is cool although he is better on the mic than he is in the ring IMHO.

BTW, I'm an independant wrestler.

When I was 12, back in 92 for all the old school gamers, I entered a trick for Spy Hunter for the NES into GamePro.  Well I won a stack of six NES games.  I was so damned happy.

The trick started you out with all weapons at the beginning of the game.  Simple, if I recall correctly.  Hold right, select, A, B, and press start at the opening screen .  :)

You gotta visit the MAIN main page.  It's listed with all the new projects entered into the "archives"

You'll have to scroll down to see all of 'em, but they're all listed on there.

I quote from the 2004 Holiday Giveaway! page:
Quote
This would not be possible of course without the very kind generosity of our sponsors, so here's a big thank you to them! In fact, they were so generous that we have a slight problem... There are more prizes to give away than there are weeks left, so . . . we will be giving away at least 2 prizes each week! There are somewhere around 34 prizes in total being given away!

I thought that meant two winners each week at the same time for the same things.  Sorry, I misinterpreted what that meant.

As for the exact odds I have no idea but I think there is like 6100 or so registered members of this board.  I have no idea how many of those are entering (or even still active here) but even if everyone entered (except Saint of course), those odds still aren't too bad at all in my honest opinion.

Just checked and saw that the contest page had been hit 1284 this week.  That could give you some indication of the odds for the week so far ;D
Please!  Give me the good news first!
