X-arcade molex connectors
« on: November 16, 2004, 11:27:28 pm »
Does anybody know where I can purchase the connectors that the x-arcade system uses to connect the joysticks/buttons to their system board. I am going to upgrade my solo 1 to a 2 player and need those connectors. All I can tell is that they are 5 pin molex type. Thanks for your help.

I think I found them.

I was waiting for a response because I was very interested in this.  I am using my 2-player xarcade as the basis for a semi modular control panel.  I don't want to cut any wires though because at some point I may want to rebuild the original.

Anyway, since no one had responded and I know many of the normal posters here don't like xarcade (and therefore you may not get a response) so I did a quick look on Google and actually found it (I think).

http://www.action-electronics.com/molex.htm

look toward the bottom of the page at: PP-MLXHU05 5 pin

I ordered some so will let you know in a few days if it was correct.  It looks right to me though.

I ordered more than I need so if they are correct I'll send them to you for the shipping cost if you want.  It turns out all of the money involved is in shipping and buying pins (which you get 100 of per pack).  So an extra 10 connectors was almost nothing..

I hope these are right, but if not, it was worth it to satisfy my curiosity.

Unfortunatly...those were not the correct plugs...bummer.

They are very close.  The pins line up correctly.  They even look just like them.  The plastic housing is just a tab to big and the slots don't quite line up correctly.

I'm thinking of trying to shave them down and see if they work.  Sorry it didn't work out.

I got some last night also. I thought about shaving them down, but looks like the pin will not seat if shaven down. I asked x-arcade for a part number or reference,or if they sold them, but they said they did not have that info. Funny because with the do it yourself kit they come with it, but won't sell seperately. Now I know why a lot of people dislike them. I am trying 1 more place for connectors, if that doesn't work I will return my controler to frys (within 30 days) sell my extra buttons from x-arcade and just buy all new crap.

Just found these also, come with wires attached. Maybe woth a look.

Well, my new ones just came. They look like a clip from a cd rom audio cable (the black end) They are the same width, but too thin to sit in the male end securely. I may try those ones from us digital, but I am sick of trying already. Maybe I'll just go with the i-pac or key wiz.
