how to control a tv inside a cabinet?

Hi All,
         I am using a 21inch TV in a cabinet with good results but i was wondering if other people who have done this can tell me how they controlled the TV. When you switch the power on the TV goes to standby and you have to press the channel one button to turn on the TV then press the AV1 button so the picture comes from the s-video out of the graphics card. The problem i have is when the TV is closed up inside the cabinet you cant use the remote as it cant see the remote sensor on the TV, any ideas please?, thanks, terry.

I have my TV behind smoked plexiglass, so I can still use the remote control, but you can't see the buttons or the IR sensor on the TV because of the tint on the plexi.

I'm going to rewire all those buttons to underneath near the computer

Im either going to pull my remote apart and wire the buttons to cp and move ir behind bezel.Or ill buy a cheap universal remote and do the same

Most pages ive read on the supject have a hole in the bezel for the TV IR sensor, so the remote can still "see" the TV. Hope this help's

This is what I'm using:

It is a remote extender.  You put the cool looking pyramid thing somewhere outside and the other one inside.  You can also get a cable for the inside one that has a wire an IR transmitter that hooks directly onto the TV's sensor.  I'm going to use the extention for the TV and then also have a DVD player in the cabinet so I can watch TV on it.

There are cheaper ones available on ebay - this one looks the coolest though.
