System Select via 1 button
« on: November 13, 2004, 11:37:56 pm »
Hello

I was just reviewing Pixelhugger's project announcement.  And he's planning adding a system selector panel on his cabinet to allow 1 button selection to move from Genesis to NES to SNES to N65 to whatever... Therefore it's makes things easy for a newbie to jump from Emulator to Emulator.

Apparently Peter who created Emulaxian is going to add this feature but I'm aware if this will be publicy released.

Just wondering if any other FE has this feature or how easy would it to add this feature?

Thanks!

mamewah lets you select different emulators with the touch of a button, great fe... i use it in my cab... i can select an emulator with a button (it cycles through them) and i can hit a different button and cycle through categories with the catlist function :)

I think it would be cool to incorporate this using a different kind of button rather than an arcade pushbutton. It would be useful for the player to just intuitively start playing without much help. Does not seem like a hard feature to implement, so hopefully we can see something like this coming up so people can start building around the options of the front end. How cool is that? All you guys should feel speical, people will be building their cabs around YOUR software! LOL I need to get to bed, it's late.

Good night all, Fred.

I beleive the "specific emulator list button" is now a part of the current Emulaxian relase... previsouly was in the beta release.

Hiub - here is an example of the kind of button I'll be using... Happ's med round illuminated pushbutton.

But mamewah doesn't allow for someone to press Button1 for NES, Button2 for Sega, Button3 for N64 and so on....

As on Pixelhugger's arcade, he's going add a launch panel on the control panel to quckly change from one to another.

oh I see what you mean. That's a unique idea. Mamewah lets you cycle back and forth, but i only use mame and dc so thats good enough for me, i run all my other emu's through dc. That's an awesome idea, it'll work really well if implemented correctly :)

congrats! good luck! Post some pics when it's done!
