I'm guessing you're missing that 3rd cookie with the expiration date on it... I'd bet dollars to donuts that theirs a statement in
YABBSE that checks the cookie/SESSION_VARS and sees if it's still valid... in your case it looks like it gets expiration date of null or the like
and promptly logs you out...

Sounds logical

EDIT Doh.. just read your other thread that says it happens in IE and mozilla on that machine too... I'm puzzled.... do you have some weird software firewall on the 98 machine?

--- End quote ---

IE and Opera (not mozilla).  Weird software firewall - Sure, doesn't everyone  :D.  Seriously, I usually run ZoneAlarm 3.0 Pro.  I run Proxomitron which is a pop-up, advertising, java applet killer under IE and Opera, but not Netscape.  Proxo has a bypass setting and I have tried on all three browsers with the firewall turned off and Proxo bypassed and still can't stay logged in.

EDIT2: For giggles I deleted the 3rd line in my cookies.txt and close browser and came back in and it made me guest if that helps narrow down the symptoms (cause still unknown)  Does changing the length of the session length in minutes help?

--- End quote ---

No I've tried logging in for "1 hour" and "forever" and it still kicks me out.  Come to think of it though, I think I often am logged in when the page first open and then become guest when I click on a thread, if that helps.

I'm surprised that besides the cookie problem... theres a session issue too, as even if you deleted your cookie you should still stay logged in regardless for and hour or until you close your browser (which ever happens first)

The thing that puzzles me is it's not an isolated issue.  There are several posts below of people having the same problem, but it usually mysteriously fixed itself for them and not for me >:(

I would bet dollars to donuts proxomitron, even though it isn't supposed is blocking something... probably the session cookie which isn't really like a cookie in the traditional sense... or it's stopping the webserver from getting key information to hold on to a session... i know I am rambling but... in order for the server to know you are you it maintains a small bit of information during your session that uniquely identifies you... browser version, os, IP, referrer and some other stuff.  I'd be proxomitron is making it hard for these temporary sessions to jive...

Anychance you could for a small window of time totally stop proximtron (not just disable/bypass) like task manager kill it... ?

Otherwise I'm outa ideas.

But I already DO NOT USE Proxomitron with Netscape.  I can try with IE (basically I have to change proxy settings so that IE is not looking at Proxomitron.  I'll try that and cookie settings hopefully tonight.
