Deleting myself???

sorry to be thick about that.. I don't really konw proximitron is/does but am inferring what it is/does based on your description and common sense... sorry I'm not getting why it effects IE but not netscape... but would be interested in seeing if that does work for IE or not... or if anything works for you =P

This is weird.  I'm on the '98 machine in Opera and It is letting me post.  (I started from a clean boot, Dialed straight in, changed Opera to not use the proxomitron settings and didn't start the firewall.

Weird.

Netscape will not load (It's spent ten minutes trying to switch from the main board to the board discussion forum, 56K)

BTW, IE apparently never went through Proxomitron, but I usually had run Proxomitron before I had the problem.

I think I will try to post in IE now, then try with Proxo enabled and see what happens from there.  If you don't hear from me til tomorrow, it didn't work.

Hmmmn,  IE seems to be working now too, but Opera never refreshed after my first post above.  I can read the post here, but Opera still has the buttons showing for posting, etc.  Strange!!!

Back in Opera, I click back and refresh and it picked up both the first Opera post and the IE post

Edit 1: Posting worked normal in Opera this time.

Edit 2: Now in Opera with Proxo running, still seems to be working (Opera is not running through Proxo, though)

Edit 3: NOW IN OPERA WITH OPERA RUNNING THROUGH PROXO.  Still working.  THis is weird, cool, but weird.

Edit 4:  Ok, I knew it was too good to last, I started ZoneAlarm 3.0 Pro and I became Guest when I tried to post.  Killed ZA Pro, and am Posting.  It looks like either ZA or ZA with Proxo running is the culprit.

I could've sworn I tried without it before, but maybe not.  Anyway....

At least I have a workaround.  Thanks for the help!!!

Okay, I'm using the Win98 machine again.  Everything seems to be peachy as long as ZoneAlarm Pro 3.0 is not running (firewall).

I would prefer not to have to stop and start it each session, though.  I tried entering www.arcadecontrols.org into the "Trusted Zones" for ZA and ZA said it "Couldn't find it".  Then I opened TweakMaster and found the IP address of www.arcadecontrols.org was 64.38.102.126 and entered that and ZA accepted it, but I still become guest whenever I click on a message.

EDIT:  FWIW, I also set the trusted zone security to LOW (Firewall is off), and rebooted, and I still get kicked off if ZA is running.

Any ideas?   :(
