There was a thread on this a while back:
http://www.arcadecontrols.org/yabbse/index.php?board=1;action=display;threadid=21632

There was an older thread too. It had lots of different strategies on how to use microswitches, but none that really worked (IIRC) I didn't save that link.

yeah i read the instructions on johnsretroarcade, and i'm probably gonna go that route. i was just wondering where to get the actual parts. for instance, happ has one, and it's got a black bezel with a red knob. just wondering what else was out there and where to get it.

thanks!

They have had some on ebay for 5-10bucks plus some shipping.

I wanted to use one to hold down my control panels... thought it would be a cool way to swap them.... but couldn't think of a way it would be strong enough.

Get them from :
http://www.marcospec.com

Search for ball shooter many will come up to choose from

The springs are real cheap there too. You just have to find a way to Make it work properly with switches or something to sense the strenght of the hit.

The simplest that I have seen had a Normally Closed (NC) switch held closed by the plunger so that when you pulled the plunger back the switch would make contact.  This way the longer you held the plunger back the longer the ENTER key would be making contact.

The only problem was that it looked like a standard arcade button that was being used.  I do not think they would stand up to the plunger slamming into them for very long.

My variation would be to use a high strength switch like is on a guitar effects stomp box.  They can really take a beating.

I will report my results when I get that far.
