Why do vendors treat me like CRAP?!?
« on: November 10, 2004, 03:26:44 pm »
OMFG I'm so pissed right now!

Here's my story...

I'm trying to make a Pop'n Music controller, so I order the buttons from WICO a week and a half ago right.  I get the buttons a couple days later, sat the 30th, and one of them has a defect, the nut will not go on more than 1/4" or so.  So I call them up and they sent out a replacement.  It arrives in a couple days and I open it up...  Hmmm, what's this, it's not the same!

The old buttons, the first 9, all have a metal plate that goes under the cp they have a hole in them for the nut to go through.  The new one has the huge plastic thing that's completely different and to be honest with you I have no idea as to how it was supposed to work.  That didn't bother me too much though, the reason I decided agains using the replacement was because it fealt completely different when you pressed it and also sounded quite different too...

So I send the defective one and the replacement back with a note in the box explaining that I want a replacement that has the metal bracket.  A few days have gone by now so I give them a call.  About 20 min ago actually...

Here's how it goes.

They answer.  "Hi I'm calling about a couple buttons I sent back for replacement" "please hold."
This guy with a retarded sounding accent picks up.
(insert what I had just said to the first person here)
"Ok, yea, we just recieved those like 2 days ago.  We will be giving you a credit shortly."  From there I explain that needed to have the old style of the button, the one with the metal thing.  He says that they're out of stock and they only cary the new style.  Hmmm, well I guess I'll have to return this set and get a complete set of the new style then right?  He tells me that he can't do that, that obviously I can't be satisfied and he will not sell to me any more!  I say "well can you send back the defective button?"  "No, I am not willing to do that."  "I want to speak to your manager"  "I am the manager.  If you send back the buttons we will give you a full refund."

So, now for the question... Is someone willing to try and purchase one of the "old stlye" buttons for me?  I know it'll probable end up being the defective one I sent back but at this point I don't realy care, I'll force the bastard on there!

If you are willing to do so the part # is 22-0580-4 yellow.  You'llhave to make sure ahead of time that they have the one with the metal bracket.  Just tell them it's a replacement and you want to keep them the same.

If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

Your first mistake was ordering from Wico.

Indeed, I don't think it has anything to do with you specifically.  I have heard much bad news about ordering from wico.

Repeat this to yourself: Wico is on the way out. Everyone there is just going along for the ride down-hill. No one there is interested in improving/recovering this declining company. They probably figure that once it does shut down, they'll all have jobs at Happ! ;-)

NO MORE!!

Look at part # 95-4002-15ZL on www.happcontrols.com.  Is that the one you need?

LOL, I was actually just looking at that!

It sure does appear to be the one.  I just sent an e-mail to Happ including some pictures and all the markings I see on the buttons I have asking them to verify if they are infact the same.

Looking at this picture they sure do look like the ones though...

Especially when compared to the picture bellow...

There price is a bit more than I had wanted to pay at $26.45 compared to wico's $9.95 but it will be worth the trouble I'm saving myself so that's probably what I'll do if they tell me they're a match.

Not to mention the fact that I'm 90% done with the CP that the buttons need to go into!  OMG I will be realy mad if I can't finnish this because of some a-hole employee of a company going down the s#itter!

I stole it...

A member of www.ddrfreak.com's forums had it and I thought it was cool so I swiped it.  Can't exactly use it on that forum cuz I'll look like a thief, so I'm gonna use it here!  ;D

Wow, finally I was able to talk to the right person after all this time and she said I'll be getting 19.90 back, YAY!

Unfortunatly the also "accidentally" charged me for someone elses order...  And they told me that I have to take that up with my credit card company or in my case my bank because it was a debit card.

STOP THE PRESSES!  Sandy from wico has just called my whilst I was typing this and told me that she is going to refund the whole $33.71!  This makes me verry happy!  Not that I would EVER buy from wico again even if they let me but it's good to know that at least someone there has a conscience.

AAARRRGGGGGGGGGG!

Just recieved my button from Happ and it's exactly the same as the wrong one I sent back to wico!

The world does not want me to build a PnM controller!!!

[edit]
Ignore the part in the picture where it says "your site", I sent this picture to happ's customer service.

I wonder if they have stopped making that other style.  This must be the new model.  That's what it seems like.  But if so, they really need to change the image on their site.

Looking at the pic, it looks like the same button with an extra housing.  Can you remove that housing?

Actually Dartful, I think the piece Chad was talking about is quite removable...  The problem I have with the button is that the different one is just that different...

It feels different, sounds different, and even looks different (if you 're looking for it, which I am).  You have the push the oddball about 3 times further than the other 8 buttons that I have and I think I would notice something like that while playing don't you?

So I guess for now I'm stuck waiting on Happ to get back to me and hopefully that will go well...  :-\  If it doesn't my plan is to see if Wico will take back the 8 that I got from them and give me a refund and then I'll order a complete set from them again under a different name since they are unwilling to do buisness with me any more!

G-wiz, this P'nM controller is more trouble than it's worth I think!!!

I wish I would have seen this post a little sooner.  I know for sure that Wico has these parts they just purchased about 200 of these buttons from me about 2 months ago.  Sorry.
