NES and Gensis and Dreamcast, oh my!
« on: November 09, 2004, 06:23:27 pm »
I have too many game systems.  (If that is possible)
I don't have enough inputs on my tv.  (Only six?  What were the manufacturers thinking?)

How do I connect all of my systems without losing picture quality?

Splitter boxes are annoying because you have to manually press a button. (I'm very lazy) Plus they cost too much if you want to get more than four inputs.

Y-splitters degrade picture quality.  (I tried this once, but it got to be unbearable.)

What do I do?  Could I build a circuit that automatically switches to the activated system without losing quality?  Anyone have a schematic?

I have:  NES, SNES, N64, Genesis, 3DO, Dreamcast, and Atari 2600.
Plus other home theater equiptment. (VCR, stereo, DVD, HDTV, and a few others)

What's a gamer to do?

Cyber System AV Selector Pro

It's pretty darn expensive but if you have a universal remote capable of learning new codes you could easily change inputs from accross the room even.

I so wish I had enough money to blow on that thing!  I mostly want it because of the optical audio and network hub capabilities, I only have one optical input on my stereo and would rather not string more than one network cable across the room.

Lemme say it again

I have one of those systems selectors that I bought from EB Games for:
- Genesis
- PS2
- Xbox
- Dreamcast
- Satellite

It works great and there's no signal loss

A couple of options

Or if you have money to spend...

The Pelican System Selector Pro is the way to go....lots of inputs, component, auto-sensing, not OVERLY expensive, at least compared to others of the same caliber.  It's a nice piece of equipment, a friend of mine has one.

Auto-sensing?  Are you sure?  It has buttons on the front, what are they for?  If it truly is auto-sensing I'm so getting on of those things!

[edit]
I just did a bit more research on Pelican's SSP and it most certainly does not auto-sense a damn thing...  Thanks for getting my hopes up!   >:(

Maybe it 'automatically senses' when you press one of the system select buttons  ;D

toys r us is actually bankrupt as well... they're moving out of retail and going strictly online...

wal mart is killing us man... they have stuff cheaper and buy more of it, they sell below cost, they make it up on other things they sell... they can write it off too selling below...

kb has terrible managers, i've been there 3 years and i still make 5.75

sad, so sad...

i have to call tomorrow to get my hours, hopefully it's not this crappy 5.5 hours sat and 5.5 sun :(

Yeah, I have to apologize, its not autosensing.  I could have sworn it was the Pelican one, but I guess I need to pay more attention to what people are saying.

Not that it helps any, but the one my friend has IS autosensing, but now that you've shown me its not the Pellican, I'll be damned if I know what it is.  I even looked at the Pelican one in stores and wanted to get one, just glazing over it since I "knew all about it" already.

I disappointed myself too... damn. ;)

do they make an autosensing switch that also has component video (hdtv) inputs/outs along with standard?

i have 5 hdtv sources, but only 2 hdtv inputs on my tv..this makes for a pain in the ass when i want to switch..not to mention the wear and tear on my tv's inputs.

COMPONENT:
PS2
Xbox
cable tv
progressive DVD player
Gamecube

OTHER:
Dreamcast
SNES
N64

That thing doesn't convert one input that is RCA to component does it?

I have an Xbox with emus too, but it's just not the same, and it never will be.  If you don't understand why I say that, then you'll be happy with xbox.  If you do know what I'm saying, you understand there's no substitute for the real games you wanna play.
