Mystery avataars
« on: November 09, 2004, 12:04:25 pm »
I've seen a few people that use this avataar here:

but for the life of me, I can't tell what the hell it is. I can't make out any kind of character or solid shapes in there.
Does anyone know what it is?

I don't know what character it is, but it is a guy looking to the right, he has a redish/maroom scarf over most of his face, you see his eye and ear.

EDIT:  Looks like menace beat me to it.

Probably something from either a capcom fighting game, or one of those Mobile Monkey Suit Gundam Wing Rage Force-X cartoons.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

Ah! There he is! Still took me a minute of staring at it to see the guy. For a long time I thought it was a rendering of Venom from Spiderman with his mouth open. Duh me!  :P

The picture is named hiryu65.jpg. This is Strider Hiryu from Marvel Vs. Capcom and also his own game Strider. On the Genesis there were at least 3 Strider games.

Strider Hiryu was in...

Strider (lots of platforms, first 8-Meg home game on Genesis)
Journey From Darkness - Strider Returns/Strider II (Gen, GG, by US Gold, not Capcom, therefore it sucked.)
Street Fighter Alpha 2/SFA2Gold (Arc, PSX, SNES, Sat, cameo in Ken's background.)
Marvel vs. Capcom - Clash of Super Heroes (Arc, DC, PSX)
Strider 2 (Arc, PSX)
and
Marvel vs. Capcom 2/MVC2EO (Arc, DC, PS2, XBOX)

Thats an easy one!  Futurama.

Any about my avatar - somebody else must be using it because mine is named ninja.jpg - NOT hiryu65.jpg  :'(

JoyMonkey's is easy, it's Gunther.
"I got her number, how do you like them bananas?"

If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

Yeah, that one stumps me as well.  I always figured he just opened up MS Paint one day, grabbed a random tool and color, and with one stroke of the mouse, had an avatar.   ;)

I think that episode was actually on again a couple of nights ago, interestingly enough...
