Cocktail: Pac-Man or Ms. Pac-Man design???
« on: November 08, 2004, 11:58:17 am »
Which of these designs do you think is "better" for a mame cocktail cabinet and why?  I'm going to base it off of Kyle Lidstrom's plans but I'm not sure which ones to use.  The main difference is that the Pac-Man cocktail has a base and the Ms. Pac-Man does not.  Any thoughts?  Thanks!

My first table I used a cross between the two:  Went without the base like MS pac (well sort of, I combined the height of the pac side + pac base to total 27 3/4"....Ms pac plans weren't out at the time) so I could have a little more room on the inside for all the bits.  However for the control panels I went with Pac Man because they are wider and deeper than the MS pac.

Also, Ms Pac Man cocktails and Pac-Man cocktails have a different shaped top. AND the control panels on a Ms. are 9" wide. The control panels on a Pac-Man are 11" wide.

peace

Thanks for the replies - I think I am going to go with the Ms. Pac-Man design but with the Pac-Man top (and art) and the larger CPs.  I'm sure I can work something out!

sounds good,
suggestion, if buying the art where it is already cut out, like from twobits.com, don't cut out the top until you have the art in hand, then just use the art as a template for the top.

Great idea!  Thanks.  I am still undecided if I am going to buy the art or attempt to print it myself.  I want the Pac-Man top because I think it looks cool and the colors are great but I might want to personalize it a little with my daughter's name somewhere on there.  I didn't know anything when I started (and I still know very little) but planning everything has been extremely fun so far (I'm starting cabinet construction Saturday!) so I might as well teach myself some photoshop while I'm at it!

I've just finished a MS-Pacman, I went for it because of the excelent plans by Kyle.

It's way more rewarding to do it yourself rather than ordering it in. I designed my artwork myself and sent it to the printers to get a professional looking job.

Have fun building your cocktail.
