Complete Cabinet sales help
« on: November 07, 2004, 04:28:19 pm »
Hey i live just outside of Toronto and i have built a cabinet however i cannot keep her so i am investigating selling her. This is where i need help because i don't really know what she is worth to other people, to me she is priceless. She is a beast, i'm talking 4 player controls, removable control pannel, wired to ipac4 and 1p 2p for dreamcast. Pull out drawr for keyboard and mouse use when surfing the net, and a power button and volume dpdt switch wired to 2.1 system for both pc and dreamcast use. the computer is a amd 1.2 with 786 mb of ram, a radeon 7200 64mb with svideo out, dvd drive, 40 gb hdd. the control pannel is a sight to be seen, a custom guilty gear (ky and sol) artwork lies printed on photo paper which cost a pretty penny. There is an LCD display embedded in the control pannel under the plexi. The sticks are happs supers that have been modified and now stand over 3 1/2 inch's or 1 1/2 below the tear drop ball cap thingy (lol wtf is it called?) The buttons are not done over the top, classic SF layout going red, white, red (like the canadian flag). There is a illuminated cut power switch on the back (if it's off nothing can work, if it's on then the power switch on the front can turn everything on), there are coax cable and cat5 wall inlets on the back so everything is clean. The bezel is sick, i made it out of wood. The whole cabinet is two pieces, the bottom sits on casters and the top is removable so transportation is alot easier.

So what is she worth? i can't keep her and i'm not going to auction her so i need to figure out how much she would be worth and find a buyer. She took me a while to make, i worked nights and weekends on her. oh and she's black, painted with melamine paint which is super durable believe me i know i purchased the paint  ;)  and outfitted with white t molding and teh control panel is black and white with ky and sol on it (black bars on the top and bottom like widescreen movies).  Well if anyone can help me out in figuring out a price or a buyer i would really appreciate (could fork over a bit if you directly hook me up with the buyer).

thanks, i hope i put this in the right forum, and i know pictures would help but i don't have a camera.

Yes, we would really have to see it to appraise it. I have seen cabs here that people only have $200 in that I would appraise at $1000 and I have seen cabinets here that people have $2000 in that I would suggest that they part out and give the cabinet away free. I have also seen some handmade cabs here that I would suggest they don't even bother trying to give away the cabinet!

Also, unless I missed it I never saw anything about your monitor? Saw something about an LCD display in the control panel, or is THAT supposed to be the monitor.

Also, realize you WILL lose money on this sale. It is nearly impossible to scratchbuild a single cabinet that you originally made for yourself with all new components (with artwork) and then sell it profitably.

Wait, I found pictures of it on your website.

X-Arcade, 15" monitor. Part it out, isn't worth a thing.

lol no that's not mine, it's a 27" tv which i chose over the monitor (which i had) because of the ability to watch tv on it.

i'm going to try and get some pictures of it, it's pretty good looking, i would say the best but i'm sure everyone feels that way about theirs.

btw who's site is that? it's not mine lol xarcade, I MAKE MY OWN ISH!

oh and can you remove that picture before people get the wrong idea, thanks.

Oh, sorry. I followed the web link of the wrong person. I followed Dreamcast Ninja's link instead of yours. My mistake!!!!!

Again, I'm sorry.

Now, lets see the real deal.

yea thats mine, btw- the monitor isn't a 15... it's a 20 incher...
lol made it for myself not to selll
xarcade functions just well and fits amazingly good into the dynamo cab, not to mention the pc that runs it is pretty damn good for a mame machine ect ect... doesn't look professional though so i wouldn't get much if i sold it, but it is a working mame machine which is more than most have so i'm happy with it :) it does what it's supposed to do :)

I'm not sure how much it is used in Toronto, but there is a Craigs List for the Toronto area.

Might be worth a try.... free to post and sell, so it couldn't hurt

ok here are the images, i don't know how to use the digital camera and lighting aint so great but whatever.

note: the monitor/tv plexi isn't on and i haven't had the image printed for the top thingy. the speakers which are in the normal speaker spot can't be seen because of the crap lighting sorry for this. also in the 2nd last picture it looks weird in the back bottom left corner of the cabinet, that's the access pannel which was off.

That is really nice. Add a marquee and you should have no problem selling it.

That is a nice cabinet.  I agree with paige get a marquee in there!  The most overlooked fact on selling anything is the initial wow factor.   Give it a nice marquee (in the same vein as your CP) and I'll bet it will sell.

Good Luck.
