Trackball and spinner playing together..
« on: November 06, 2004, 11:04:19 pm »
I am planning on buying a Slikstik blank box and putting the controls together myself.  I currently have an X-Arcade with a Oscar Spinner mod in the middle...

My question is ..will I have a problem with the trackball and the spinner working together?  My spinner is a USB hack...are trackballs USB, too or can you connect them to an I-Pac? (I'm thinking you can do either or?)

Also..are the Happs 3" trackballs really worth $150 plus base plate?  Are there any other's comparable that are cheaper?  Or are the Happs that much better than the others?

I've modded my X-arcade so much, I 'm wondering why I ever bought one in the first place....I wish I would have knopwn about this site before I dropped $150 bones

Not sure where you got your pricing from bur the Happ high lip 3" trackball is $69.99 at the moment. I can tell you it is awesome, I have had one for nearly a year and it rocks.

i use the opti-pac in my box for both my spinner and my tracball ( oscar spinner and 4" ball out of a missle command ) , basicly , if you dont touch either for about 5 seconds it goes into a wait state .. the first one you touch takes control of the mouse pointer , during this time the other one is disabled ...

their is a way to get both to work in 2k/xp by useing analogmame , but that doesnt help with other emulators.

and the 69.99 is worth it , i got really really lucky and found a place neer me that happen to have one , but the effort involved in looking on e-bay etc  ( i was even looking at bochi balls at one point )  is a major pain.

I bought a used 3" high lip off ebay. It cleaned up really nicely. I went ahead and replaced the rollers since they had a slight bit of wear on them, turns out the wear wasn't even affecting it though, since it plays the same with the new ones.
