Chicago Auctions? Chicago Schools?
« on: November 05, 2004, 08:00:58 am »
Are there ever Chicago auctions? I have heard of tons of St' Louis auctions but getting off of work on the exact dates and such is rather difficult for me. Not to mention arranging trailers and the like. However, if there was an actual auction in Chicago I am sure it would go over well.

There is the Pinball expo but I want more cabs and selections. Has anyone heard of these?

Also I have heard of the Arcade school or training as anyone gone to one?

Thanks for all your knowledge it is greatly appreciated.

I don't think there are any chicago auctions, superauctions certainly doesn't go there.

They key to getting off work is requesting the date as soon as the superauctions schedule is posted, and make it a FAMILY VACATION, not an AUCTION. Hard to deny requests made months and months in advance.

Whens the next one in St' Louis? I can set it up where the wife and kids head to Kansas and I just meet them up there later on after the Auction. I installed a hitch on the wifes van so now all I have to do is start toting things around :).

The Classes thing is a big thing though and I think it would benefit alot of people. Maybe if I get good enough I will throw some. I have a teaching license :).

Randyfromm has some great arcade classes. A bit too pricey for the average hobbiest, but well worth it for the professional.

There is currently no "next" st. louis auction scheduled, but if history is any indicator then it will be either on march 5th or march 12th 2005.

We also sometimes get one in january. We also usually get june and then always get end of october.

Chicago auctions happen rarely (besides the yearly Pinball Expo). Last one was in Rosemont (IIRC) years ago. Before then, they would occur once in a while at the Kane County fairgrounds. Seemed to me prices usually went cheap, which is one reason why they probably never come here. I also heard them say that the rental costs are too high.

I forgot to mention that I usually try to make it to the Milwaukee auctions. They are the closest. Otherwise, I head to Indianapolis.

About roughly how much closer? I know it would take me about 6 hours to hit Paiges place. Or atleast that is what we clocked opn my last pick up from him. I am sorry for my inferior knowledge of distance just a hopeful collector delving in fun :).

The St. Louis auction is actually about 40 minutes closer to you than my place is. Still one heck of a drive though.

Oye,

I hate living in cheapbuttville! Everything good gets run out of town because we are to cheap to actually spend the proper amount on something. I remember when the Electronic Expo was in chicago but we cheaped them to death so they ran to california :(. Now I hear that we diod it to Arcade auctions as well. Bah fiddely sticks poo dinkum!

well

milwaukee is about 1.5 hours from chicago

indianapolis is about 4 hours away

st louis is about 6 hours away

of course your milage may vary depending on how fast you go etc, but traveling at a legal speed takes about that long for each place.
