Misc Stuff For Sale/Trade (Aracde, GP32-GONE, Comics, etc...)
« on: November 03, 2004, 12:02:32 pm »
All items are in Chicago, IL (Lincoln Park).  I would prefer local pickup, but may be willing to ship.

Stuff for Sale:

This is now gone.  Trade completed this evening.
- GP32 handheld game system (backlight version)
   - mint condition
   - includes USB transfer cable
   - includes one 128MB SMC card, and 4 16MB SMC cards
   - can play lots of games including emulators of NES, Sega, GB and more
   - can play movies with included software
   - includes generic carrying case
   - includes wallet for SMC cards
This is a great system that can do a lot of different things.  I have moved on from console games and no longer have time to invest in this little wonder.  There is a huge following for it on the Internet and endless information in forums and on websites to help you get started.

Asking: $100 obo, or trade (see below)

- Area 51 design Aracde Pedestal with World Heroes 2 NEO GEO cart
   - includes TwoBits RGB to NTSC card (worth almost $200 alone and allows you to hook up the jamma harness and NEO GEO board directly to any TV with RCA ports and play on the TV)
   - includes one 1 slot NEO GEO board
   - includes World Heroes 2 NEO GEO cart
   - includes two jamma harness
   - includes two new Happ Controls joysticks (with microswitches)
   - includes ten new Happ Controls buttons (with microswitches)
   - includes coin door with 4 coin slots
   - includes at least 2 coin mechs (maybe more if I can find them)
   - includes some mounting hardware, extra wires, and extra buttons/switches
   - includes power brick (needs a power cord like the kind at Home Depot)
All you need to get this sweet setup up and running is a power cable (Home Depot), a TV with RCA ports, and a little work to get everything hooked up.  I will also provide any technical information I can locate and will provide buyer with additional references on the Internet for help if needed.  I have a small apartment and while this isn't very big, it is still taking up enough that it needs to go.  I also don't have the time right now to take and get it all hooked up and working properly.  This is a great deal that would cost you over $500 to buy everything included.  Email me for pictures.

Asking: $350 obo, or trade (see below)

- Comic Book Collection
   - 2 storage boxes of roughly 400-450 comic books
   - almost all are bagged and boarded
   - very few dulicates (less than 10 probably)
   - everything in very good to mint condition
   - mostly 80s to late 90s
You are gonna find any big money books here (although I haven't looked any of them up in a price guide for over 5 years, so who knows).  You will however find a few complete mini series, a few key story issues, and a few special editions.  This would be a great starter collection for a young collector, or a nice addon for a current collector.  Even if every book carried only a $1 value, this would still be a great deal!  About a quarter a piece!

Asking: $100 obo, or trade (see below)

- Sports Card Collection
   - mostly hockey cards
   - does include some baseball, football, and basketball
   - every card carries a value of at least $1
   - almost all the cards are in penny plastic sleaves and then in a hard plastic
   - a few complete sets
   - includes a $100 Wayne Gretzky, $50 Rick Nash, a mini Penguins jersey of Marc Andre-Fluery, and many more higher end cards
   - almost all the cards are rookies, inserts, or memrobilia cards
   - over 1500 cards in this collection
So there is a lockout in the NHL, but that doesn't mean you can't still see your favorite stars!  This collection is made up primarily of hockey cards, with several baseball, football and basketball.  This is a great starter collection or an addon for serious collectors too.  The collection carries a value of over $4500.  I am trying to clear space in my apartment and have out grown collecting cards.  This is a great deal and won't last long.  The asking price alone is less than $1 a card!

Asking: $1000 obo, or trade (see below)

Trades:
   - a barebones PC system with a P4 3.0GHz, 1GB RAM, motherboard that supports up to 4GB of RAM, sound card (integrated into motherboard is fine), and a video card with at least 128MB or more and a TV-OUT
   - an LCD projector
   - Playstation 2 (prefeably new, or barely used), controllers and maybe a few games (hockey, basketball, baseball, Time Crisis series, etc)

I may be interested in some other things, just email me and ask.  I have a lot of varied interests, so it doesn't hurt to ask.  If you have any questions about any of the items listed above just email me (m.vollmer@rcn.com)!

Hey yo Mikey, you happen to have pics of the pedestal?  I'm near Bloomington, IN.  Potentially interested.

I've wanted a GP32 for a while now. Maybe I can use some of my tax return to fund the future purchase. What's your opinion of the handheld and making modifications, i.e. upgrading SDRAM, changing OSs? I've heard a lot of good things.

The unit itself is great.  Good battery life, nice screen.  I haven't tried upgrading the RAM, but I have switched the OS.  Right now it's got the GP32 OS, WindUps, and 2 others that escape me at the moment.  It was pretty easy and it allows you to do so much more.

The only reason I am getting rid of mine is because I don't have the time to put into it anymore to justify keeping it.  I'd rather let someone else get some enjoyment out of it instead of it just sitting around in a draw somewhere.

In reply to rchadd:
Sort of...  It seems you can play some of the early games (pacman, etc), but I never really tried it as I am more of a 90s game fan.

In reply to Hoagie_one:
I'm not much of an Anime, Fantasy, or D&D fan.  400MHz won't do me much good right now.  I already have a ton of CDs and movies and I hardly listen to or watch those.  Not much of a reader either.

Chainmail?  You mean like actual letters, or something else?  Sorry if I am missing the obvious, I am home sick with the flu so I'm a little out of it right now.

If I can get ahold of a PS2, I would be looking for some sports games.  I wanted an LCD projector, but when I see the prices of the bulbs it scares me off.  I would love to try and build my own like other people have, but like everyone else, I am short on cash right now.

I may be interested in a few good linux books as I am still getting my feet wet with it, but they would have to be newer books.

OH!  Sorry, like I said I'm not feeling well right now.  Um, I would have to pass on the Chainmail too.

Do you have any pictures of the gp32?  Is the screen scratched at all?

Edit: I would still like to see pictures, but I'll take it.  I am willing to spend the money.  Do you accept Paypal?  So this is the backlight version(the BLU)  Is it in English(or at least easily operable)?  I've wanted one for awhile, it's worth it for $100.

Hey IceCold,

I don't have a digital camera here at my apartment.  I can try and borrow one from work though and get some pics to you by early next week.  I don't see any scratches on the screen and I didn't use it a whole lot.

When I say it's the backlight version, I mean that normally it acts like a gameboy color, but then there is a small button on the back that if you push the screen lights up.  So, yeah I guess it's the BLU version.  I just want to make sure I tell you everything I can to make sure it is what you want and there aren't any issues later.

I do accept PayPal, but would you pick it up or would I need to ship it to you?  If I have to ship it you would need to cover that cost too and let me know how you wanted it shipped.

I do have someone else who is also interested in it and seems to be willing to trade me for a PS2.  If that falls through it's yours.  But let me see if the trade goes through or not.  I will try and get an answer from him by this weekend if not sooner.

As long as there aren't any big scratches, pictures aren't really necessary.  I would need it to be shipped.  I could pay for shipping.

Just let me know if the trade falls through.  If so, I'll paypal you the money.

Congratulations!  Don't be sorry, I would also rather have a PS2 than a hundred dollars, so you made a good choice.  :D

Thanks IceCold!

I also have the following available:

- 2 64MB SDRAM PC100 memory chips - $20 each, or $30 for both
- 2 256MB SDRAM PC133 memory chips - $60 each, or $100 for both

I have 1 of each of the following drives:
- 3.5 floppy ($10)
- 8x DVD drive ($30)
- 100MB Zip Drive ($10)
These are all internal swapable drives from a Dell Inspiron 8100, but they will work with other models. Buy them individually for prices listed, or take all three for $40.

FIRST COME FIRST SERVE.  I have no idea on how much anything would cost to ship, but I can't image it would be much.  I prefer to deal locally though.
