MAME ESC remapping Q
« on: October 30, 2004, 02:18:57 pm »
Quick question for all you folks out there.

Since I already have a sidewinder gameport controller and my mini cab will need a maximum of  13 buttons/inputs, is it possible to remap the ESC key/function in MAME to a joypad button?

Ive hacked a Sidewinder before with great results but had a wireless keyboard for admin buttons and game selection.

Any help in the subject would be appreciated  :)

Easy method -

Start game with Sidewinder plugged in - press TAB - Highlight "Inputs (All games" - Press enter - Highlight "UI Cancel" - Press desired sidewinder button.

Exit back out of menu (using sidewinder button).

If you do the timing right, you can leave it as Escape or Joystick Button_X.

You can also do it with ctrlr.ini or ctlr.cfg files if you know how to use those.

Thanx Tiger-heli, man that is so simple. I  musta went thru than menu looking for an escape or exit, never saw that UI cancel, even tho escape was there as the button. I guess sometimes u need a fresh pair of eyes.

Much thanks again
