Starroms question
« on: October 28, 2004, 10:27:46 pm »
Has anyone bought games from starroms.com ? Do you get some sort of certificate saying that you have rights to use them? Anyone could have the roms and claim they bought them because there is no so called certificate of auhenticity?

Cheers :)

you can request a license receipt at any time for the games you are licensed for.  Comes in email and starts off:

Thank you for licensing games at StarROMs. This digitally signed
receipt confirms your legal license of the following titles by
StarROMs, Inc. as of 10/28/2004

Is there any reason not to buy the atari roms you use that they have?  Maybe if enough support of legal roms is shown more titles will become available?

I love how they sell an 800 credit package for $100. You also get 15 free credits for creating an account. If you buy the 800 credit package you can download every game they have and still have 385 credits left.

Yeah, they used to have alot  more ROMs than that, and I guess they forgot to revise their special packages.
NO MORE!!

just the incentive i needed. just did it then (",). 12 titles took my fancy for 200 points- $34.95. the points idea probably makes it easier to swallow i guess. easier to go through with when you buy a game for 20 points rather than $4 (or whatever it works out to exactly).
im pretty sure they had more titles too when i first looked. now if they could get the rights to galaga theyd double their revenue with that ROM alone!

edit: if you go to 'your account' you can then click 'request a ROM licence receipt'. do that AFTER you've used up your credits, naturally as one receipt will list all games purchased up to that point.
