Old school 5 button bartop.
« on: October 28, 2004, 05:14:40 am »
Has anyone ever done an old school 5 button bartop cabinet?

Most of the pre-megatouch bartop cabinets had 5 buttons in a line across the control panel. I have found at least one of these games in Mame (Super 10) and there are probably some others (There is Triv 2, but that hardly counts as a working game since it won't come out of service mode).

There are also some classics that would play with this config, such as Asteroids.

You could do Stepmania (Pump it Up config) as well.

Is there any 5 button jukebox software out there?

I believe you will get a bunch of them (jukebox software) to work.  Many allow it to work with a joystick and a button or two.  But even then.. you might need to test to make sure they only work well with a joystick (up/down).

At some point, you will be able to use my frontend... but that will require a hefty computer inside...

And last... if you really want mame... Do you care about keeping it 'real'?  I've seen people add a 4way and a few buttons on those and have them look good...  I don't like many 5 button games.  There is a cool 3 button kids game... but you probably don't care about it... (the one with a red button, green and red...)

Well I already have full size cabinets with joysticks, no need to do a bartop with them as well, I would rather have more bartoppy stuff.
