Help: T-Molding Bit In Canada.
« on: October 27, 2004, 10:43:47 pm »
Hello
I am finally going to buy a t-molding bit. I am in Canada and have no clue what to get... I checked t-molding.com and in the installation tools section they have a bit that looks correct, and they say it works.

3 Wing Slot Cutter Assembly - 1/16" Slot #38

Is this what i need for my router to install tmolding? If so where in canada can i get it.. 27$ usa is a bit (ehhe a bit get it) steep for me.. anyone advise? i need it asap!

thx
JIM

I bought a Freud 1/16th slot cutting bit at Home Depot. I had to special order it and it took a week to come in, but you know what...No Duty, No Shipping Fees, etc. You will also need to buy a 1/4" shaft to hold the slot cutter if you do not have one already.

I forgot what it cost, but I know it was cheaper than ordering.

Good Luck!

You don't say where in Ontario you are, but if you're in the GTA, there is a hardware place in a strip mall at Derry and Tomken in Mississauga that is a Freud dealer. Freud's Canada office/warehouse is about two blocks away on Pacific. You pay for the bit at the hardware store and then drive over to the warehouse to pick it up. That's what I did.

Grauwulf--How much was it at the strip mall place you went to?  Can you recall the name of the store?

Demon-Seed> I don't live in the GTA, I'm about 2 hours away, I just happened to be in Toronto on business. You can get it through Home Depot, I can't see it taking more than a week to get it in.

The place I got my bit at is called Bar-Ben Hardware, 1115 Derry Rd E. (905)670-8800
I paid $29.72 for mine, but I got the bit with the 1/2" arbour instead of 1/4". The 1/4" one might be cheaper.

There's a hardware store on Barton near Centre Mall that sells the router bit your looking for.  That's where I got mine.
