IPAC4 woes updated
« on: October 27, 2004, 09:42:21 pm »
hello
just got ipac4
it installs with no wires fine into ps2 or usb

problems starts when i start connecting wires (probally connected etc..)
all my usb devices from the hub start disconnecting one by one..

it's an old asus a7v mobo...  maybe i update bios?  is there too much power going to this usb (4 port hub, light, 3 devices)

i duh know
i'm confused

Does your USB hub have a separate power adapter for it or does it draw its power off the motherboard? If it just draws it off the motherboard I would suggest a hub with an external power supply.

well..i tried with the usb port connect (w/pins) from mobo and i just tried the built in usb in the rear of the mobo....

both are doing the same thing

i had an ipac 2 successfully workingi but i traded in for an ipac 4

unsure of power siuation...i assume i hooked up pins in right order cause the usb devices connected to it works

If you connect switch wiring to the I-PAC, nothing should happen at all, because unless the switches are pressed, the wires don't actually go anywhere, they are just open-circuits at the end.
So this would suggest that there is some problem with the wiring and it is not in fact open circuit but shorted or some other problem.
The self-test LED on the I-PAC can instantly show such problems.
I can assist if you drop me an email: andy@ultimarc.com.
