Ramblings of a madman about everything
« on: October 27, 2004, 10:23:59 am »
I have to thank everybody in the emu community for helping make the great improvements that have been made in emulation. I remember when emulation was just getting started, and after playing a few, the first Mame was released. Things were pretty quite back then but it didn't take long for Mame to become popular. A lot of people were afraid that the attention was bad and would put an end to emulation as a whole. Sure some things were bad as the witch hunt began to shut down the good sites, but for the most part everything has been good. When I built my first arcade controller the guy at hagstrom was confused when I told him that I wanted to use thier keyboard encoder to interface arcade controlls with my computer. "You want to what???" was what I heard. Since that time the market has been flooded with all kinds of great products - Cheap encoders, no more keyboard hacks, or matrixs. Thousands of control examples, High quality art, expanded options for arcade controlls. No more calling in orders to Happ. The biggest thing I'm thankful is all the time and effort all the countless people have put into emulators as a whole. The quality, speed and selection of emulators available today is truely unbelievable. Thank you to everyone who has become part of the community because everyone has helped take it from it's humble beginings to what it is now.

Well said.
