What type of speakers are you using in your jukebox?

I was wondering if anyone is using standard audio speakers or car audio speakers in their jukebox cabinets or do most people use computer speakers.

I am a bit concerned about using a 10" car audio subwoofer in my cabinet as it will be close to the monitor, about 12" away. The same for the main speakers although they will about 6 or 8 inches from the top of the monitor.

You can use any type of speakers for your cabinet.
Main thing is the AMPlifier....Speakers or subwoofers are not associated with a sound quality if you got a cheap amplifier.

If it is a  normal standard PC monitor it will never effect any
more but be carefull about color gun. because there is
a megnatic waves intrupt between the monitor and speakers signels....
personally i recommend you to set your speakers over the top of your cabinet.

I don't have a jukebox, but if I did, I'd use 4x 8" woofers + tweeters and no sub woofer and have a 200W amplifier. Lose the sub woofer you really don't need the bass for a jukebox project.

I'm using 10 watt stereo speakers in the jukebox cabinet itself, but most of the time I won't use them at all because I'm going to run a line out to my surround sound.

I'm using Dayton in wall speakers from Parts Express.    They sound good, are paintable and easy to mount in a jukebox.

depends on how loud you want the volume to go I suppose as to what amp/speaker combo you use.

Why would you use tiny speakers with a jukebox? The whole I idea of a jukebox is to be BIG and LOUD isn't it?

Maybe in Australia where your nearest neighbour is 4km away you can have really loud music , but here in England my neighbour sleeps about 4ft from my Jukebox.

Seriously though I left a audio out plug so I can connect it into my main amp if needs be which would probably shake the house down if I ever turned it up full.

Interesting experience with the car speakers. I was afraid that might be the case. I will have to do some tests with my monitor. Otherwise, shielded computer speakers.

Automobile speakers are usually 4 ohm instead of 8 ohm impedance.  So, you will have to watch the load impedance using 4 ohmers.  Strap your jukebox amp terminals accordingly.  Some home stereo amps can handle 4 ohm loads, others can't.  Check it out.

Shielded (PC type) speakers normaly having  bucking magnets and mu-metals cans over the magnet asy on the rear of the  speaker.  I wouldn't place them any closer than 6-8 inches from a CRT.  The electron gun emission gets deflected and the purity goes nuts!  Unshielde speakers shoudl be a good 18 inches away to avoid any serious effects.
