Typing with an X-A|rcade fitted?
« on: October 07, 2004, 05:44:56 am »
Right..... I'm deliberattely not going  to edit this post, just so you can see what I mean.  Why do some keys not show the correct l.etter at times. Also, why do some keys do a bouble entry.  And why does the CCAPS lock come on sometimes just when I ddon't need it?  (Though it hasn't done it in this post as you can see)   Shall I keep on typing to see if it does?

Doesn't look like it's gonna do it soes it?   Just when you wanT AS PROBLE,M      aH.... THERE WE GO!!!

It should NOT be doing this.  I never experienced this issue during the time I used the X-arcade.  I'd recommend contacting Xgaming.

Well, I've disconnected the X-Arcade for now because earlier today my keyboard stopped working altogether through the X-Arcade! The behaviour of the X-Arcade in Mame was, and still is, perfect however. I just wondered if this was normal.  I only bought the X-Arcade temporarily until my Mame cab is finished, as I still needed something decent to play Mame on in the meantime.

I'll wait and see if someone else knows what's wrong..... then I'll contact Xgaming if I need to.

I have a very similar problem to yours (although it doesn't seem as bad).  I get a lot of double letters when I have my keyboard hooked through the XArcade.  It must be a problem with the pass through.  I always just assumed that it was normal and since I didn't always have it hooked up I didn't really worry about it.  I would definately contact X Gaming though.

I have avoided the problem now because I use a separate USB keyboard.  I came upon a new problem though.  It seems that my computer will not recognize the X-Arcade unless a keyboard is hooked up to it.  I now have my old keyboard hooked up even though I don't use it, just so my computer will recognize it.  Weird, but not really a big deal.

I've found out what the problem is.... and I'm not very happy with X-Gaming!  >:(

It seems that there is a problem with some computers not putting enough power through the PS2 keyboard port to power the X-Arcade properly. This results in exactly the symptoms I've been experiencing. Their excuse is that there is no industry standard as to how much power should be put through that port, unlike USB ports.

Their solution is for me to buy a USB adaptor from them for $30 plus shipping (I live in the UK) to fix a product that should be working correctly from the off!

Remember..... they claim that this product will work with any computer that uses a PS2 type keyboard. Well.... apparently not!  >:(

I had the same problem..I had to get the USB adaptor...However..once I got that...i noticed that my joys would stick once in awhile in fast games..(Galaga and such)....not good..

So I went to X-Gaming and wrote customer service....they came back and said that there is a new USB device that addresses this issue and immediately shipped it out...with instructions on how to return my other USB adaptor..
I actually havent shipped it back yet ;D

What they sent out was a Y-mouse...I just plugged the X-arcade into one of the y-mouse ports and plugged the port into the USB..plugged keyboard into X-Arcade,,,,,

BINGO.....everything works now

I have the exact same problem. I called x-arcade and they basically said that i'm screwed and need to purchase their adaptor. I'm glad i know how to build my own control panels now. I'll never buy from them again. Plus it cost about half the price to build one then to buy one.
