Gyruss>Spinner

Has anyone tried Gryuss with a spinner in mame?  Seems like it would be natural.

the gyruss ship moves at a constant speed... so a spinner wont help.

if they designed it to move the ship like in tempest... they would have needed to make the game a lot more intense... as if the ship moved faster -  it would be too easy to dodge the enemies.

for best play,  make sure to get a wico leaf joy or a  simular joy type that uses leafs or a round actuator.  most joys have a square path travel, and that makes it hard to move in smooth round motions.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting it to perform better with a spinner or even accelerate :)  I just kinda wanted to hear if anyone had tried it with mame, I guess.  It just seemed to make sense!  I remember doing pretty well with the joystick at the arcade though, why mess with a good thing, right?

The way it controls makes it a poor candidate for a spinner anyway.
It uses the absolute location of the stick, and moves the ship along the shortest path to that point at a set speed.

Time Pilot uses a similar joystick setup.
If you pull the stick straight down, the ship rotates from wherever it is currently to straight down, and then continues flying straight down until the stick is positioned somewhere else.
