modify a coin mech to accept quarters?
« on: October 15, 2004, 09:53:08 am »
I have a taito egret cab..
its coin mech is fed from the top of the cabinets control panel and currently accepts 100 yen coins, which appear, by the small restrictor plate on the backside to be signifigantly smaller than US quarters.(ive removed the restrictor)

inserting a quarter now simply makes it sit in the mechanism until i hit the coin return mechanism.
what do i need to modify to make the acceptor take the larger quarters as currency..
thank you all  ;D

Why don't you just get some quarter acceptors?  You can get them used dirt cheap.  I don't think you're going to find an easy way to do that.

To offset the cost, you could toss those Yen mechs on eBay.

That's an Asahi Seiko (www.asusainc.com) coin acceptor which is exactly the same as Happ Controls' Ultimech coin acceptor except for color. Do a search here for the Quarter to Token conversion and it will show you what to adjust.

I don't know if it applies to the mech you're using or not, but did you see this thread?
