Question about monitor mounting.
« on: October 14, 2004, 10:37:08 pm »
Hey, I'm new around here.
I wanted to know if anyone had any diagrams of how to mount monitors? Or should I follow the link in the Newbie Guide?

You'll have to start by telling us what kind of monitor it is (arcade, PC, etc.), and what you want to mount it to (upright or cocktail cabinet).

I'll make the assumption you are talking about a PC monitor in an upright cabinet.  In that case, the easiest thing is to build a shelf in the cabinet and place the monitor on the shelf.  You can paint the case of the monitor black in the front and use tinted glass to cover the front of the monitor.

It will be either a TV, or PC monitor. In an upright cab.
The thing is, I see these cabinets with tilted screens. And I don't know the best way to mount them like that.
I'm sure I can figure I way out, but I wouldn't trust the sturdiness of it.

Depending on the amount of tilt, you can just use a piece of wood secured to the monitor shelf as a stop, then install the monitor from the front and put the glass over it.  If the tilt is severe, I'd just put a non-removable back on the cabinet where the monitor can rest against it.  My first cabinet was based on LuSid's design, and is built this way (although I used a front-mounted arcade monitor).
