ipac glitch solved, hooray!!
« on: October 13, 2004, 07:09:07 am »
just a little lesson in diagnosing problems. a few weeks back i found that the player one button was playing up on my cab. so that when i select a game from the menu (ipac default- player1 & left joystick) instead of acting as enter it would just act as '1' and go to the top of the menu. well i happened to have a spare second wire connected to that as i was toying with the idea of using the coin reject as a button. once i disconnected that it seemed to work again. i couldnt really tell why and i wasnt particulary satisfied but i let it go.

well tonight it happened again!! grrrr. whats going on? i downloaded the ipac instructions and checked what i could but i couldnt quite see what was happening. so i disconnected the OTHER wire to the player 1 button and it seemed to behave again. then when i was looking down into the cab i realised what was wrong in the first place-

the steel wire that the coin hits to move the microswitch was getting caught on the top of the pile of coins!! i have a rather shallow coin-box. so a bit more bending of the wire to clear them and all is well again.

so always keep an open mind when it comes to problem solving. geez, i love non- software related problems. i can actually work them out (",)
