FREE Apple Systems

Though my primary systems have always been PC based, I've acquired a number of Apple systems over the years primarily from doing repair work for my children's daycare, a few donated systems, and one system my son found intact from a "garbage pick".

They include:

Apple IIgs vintage system complete with monitor, peripherals, joystick, printer, etc

6500/225

8500/180 system

(2) 6300CD systems

several ADB keyboards, mice, scsi scanner, and various other Apple parts.

I really hate to just dumpster these, don't really care to take the time to mess with Ebay.

The 6500 includes a TV tuner and I think one of the 6300CDs does as well.

Any Apple collector person in/near Dallas/Ft Worth area that would be interested in clearing these out?

I'm most interested in someone who will clear out the lot of it.

The 6500 is a nice little system, my oldest daughter used it for quite some time before upgrading her to a PC as it doubled as a TV in her room. This was a dumpster pick my son came home with one weekend many moons ago after weekend at his mother's including a 56k external US Robotics modem. Prior owner had pulled the HD, I replaced it, loaded 8.6, up she came.

I can ship any of this stuff, but make sure there isn't anyone local giving these things away on ebay.  You can't get any $$ for a Sparc LX, but it is a usable platform for learning Solaris.  Let me find a way to verify they still work before considering shipping the stuff.  I no longer have a monitor for the Sun (too bad I let a friend toss 6 working 20" Sun monitors a while ago).

They're pretty heavy. I'd guess $30-$40.

Nope, just being lazy today.  As I said in the PM, I've got the keyboard, but I can't find the keyboard cable or mouse.  Plus, there's no guarantee the HDD is good since it boots looking for an OS.  The OS *used* to be there.  I don't know where it went, and I have not software for the thing.  If all that is OK, I'll find a box and weigh it packed.  Then I can get the actual shipping price.  I should have that on Monday.

IceCold: The Sparc LX is lighter than I thought - maybe only 12 lbs.  I have an external CD ROM for it which you will need (unless you have an external SCSI-2 CDROM.  I have no SCSI cable or SCSI terminator for it, though.  Since you don't have a Sun monitor, you have a couple of options for setting up a display: either buy an adapter to use it with a PC monitor for around $30, or you can hook it up to a PC using a serial cable and terminal software.  I can verify it works the second way, but I forgot to bring home the serial cable I planned to use from my office.  I can do that on Monday.  Also important, I don't have a password for the LX, so you'll have to hack it or reload an OS.

If I knew the HDD was working I'd snag it in a second, and replacing the drive would probably be harder than just finding another SE/30, so I'll have to think about it I guess. Unless you know a way of testing the drive.

As long as it's not TOO overly expensive to ship, that sounds good.

Using a serial cable and terminal software sounds good for me.
