Fixed Galaga - New high score!
« on: October 11, 2004, 12:29:36 pm »
Joy yesterday... My original Galaga board was reporting a RAM error, to my dismay (had discovered this last year). I finally figured out that the voltage needed to be a bit higher than 5.0 volts, so I increased it a bit and now the board works! YEAH.

So finally, I got to play my Galaga with the original joystick, newly installed Leaf-switch buttons (replacing microswitch buttons that were on there) and the original game (before that I had Galaga 88 in there, which would still work with the slightly lower voltage).

Usually I make it to wave 6 or 7... Last night I made it to wave 17! Woooo. heh. Broke my personal record from years ago when I first got the board (see it has this non volatile RAM hack to save high scores).

 ;D

Did you do the "wait 20 minutes until they stop shooting" trick? If not, that's impressive! I own an original Galaga and I hardly ever get to level 20!
I have changed my nickname to "Cakemeister". Please do not PM the Buddabing account because I do not check it anymore.

I had an "IN THE ZONE" game once.  I was always pretty good, but that night I was on fire (for me). I rolled the score twice and had to abandon the game because my ride was leaving.

I had an in the zone moment with Tapper. I had a few... err, quite a few beers... I just went crazy, died twice in the first level, and then made it all the way to the first space level (11).  Set my high score of 89K which I still can't come close to. Haven't seen the space level before or after that.

My buddy says its a zen thing. If you wear boxing gloves while playing punchout, you do better. Slam beers, you are better at tapper.

My games: Tapper, Asteroids, Cocktail-MAME, Tron, ROTJ, Tempest, Star Wars (not working)
My wants: Warlords Cocktail
